Arthe Technology (1000BC-900BC)
Post Body

Tech Sheet

Normal Technology:

  • Administrative: Accounting (MTS, Writing, papyrus/dried palm leaf/prepared leather writing/parchment/paper, Non-nomadic)

Awoken from their proverbial societal slumber, the Arthe merchants had a need to take better count of their assets. Basic Accounting was developed by the merchant class which would also be adopted by the oligarchies of the city states, so that the richest knew exactly how rich they were at any given time.

  • Industrial: Saw (MTS, Metalworking)

Trees are wonderful things. They provide building material, food, and shade. To obtain the first, the tree unfortunately had to be separated from its roots. Depending on how thick the tree was, and the hardness of the wood, this could mean a hard task lie ahead in chopping down said tree. A completely different approach to cutting down the tree proved to be very effective, running very small sharp edges over the trunk of a tree over and over again. The Saw was the resulting tool's name, and sped up the felling of trees significantly.

  • Military: Epsilon Axe (MTS, Early Battleaxe)

The Arthe huntsmen proved their worth fighting against the Lituuram to the south. They filled in as skirmishers and archers, but not as infantrymen. That was just as well, infantrymen were much more likely to die. But archers (and the oligarchs) would need such men to protect them, and it imperative that they have the proper weapons to fight. This is what the Arthe lacked for it's infantry. The (long-overdue) development of the Epsilon Axe would help bring Arthe warriors victory!

Architectural Technology:

  • Architectural: Tile Shingles (MTS, Kiln)

Tile Shingles were much more aesthetically pleasing than bare roofs, and would help to also divert rain more effectively, if properly made.

Cultural Technology:

  • Cultural: Noodles (MTS, Wheat)

Wheat was something the Arthe sure had a lot of, because they grew it all day. It wasn't hard to imagine why the Arthe would grow bored of consuming their staple crops in the same boring ways. Hey, putting it in a long shape and calling it a *Noodle sounds like a fun way to eat it!

  • Cultural: Undergarments (MTS, Fabric, Warp-Weighted Loom)

Chafing was the great enemy of any person who was out and about, so softer Undergarments under the coarse outer clothes was the solution.

Focus: Agrarian

  • Agricultural: Scythe (MTS, Sickle)

A quick improvement on the design of a sickle, keeping a well tended lawn was never easier than when the Scythe was put to use.

Diffusion:

  • Maritime: Mycenean Bronze Age Galley (MTS, Reed boat/dugout canoe/raft, sail, tiller, plank hull, caulking, Mycenaean galley hull, non-nomadic, not on open ocean)

(From F-2)

  • Architectural: Cyclopean Masonry (MTS, Dry Stone, Masonry)

(From E-10)

(I will only be doing three normal technologies this week because I accidentally broke the rules last week and did four, thinking the rule change was already in effect)
