The war began between the Nowptaos and what they saw as the invading Haracc, but the first battle of the conflict lay between one of the mercenary fleets from the Imixteak that laid claim with the Nowptaos and the Haracc fleet. The Imixteak fleet that promised to sail with the Haracc desired to not fight their countrymen, and continued on to Corfu to await the actual raiding and sacking of the Nowptaos, their true goal. Meanwhile the Aryatsarun prepared to set sail with a very large fleet, and the Nowptaos prepared to push back the invading Haracc.
As the Haracc intercepted the Northern Imixteak fleet, they both prepared battle lines and the archers and slingers from both sides fired. The Imixteak slingers do more damage than the Haracc as the battle lines approach each other, but both sides lose many men as they prepare to ram and board. Both sides have experienced sailors and powerful penteconters, and when they clashed a general melee of ships and men began. However, the Imixteak had left a reserve of ships to attempt to encircle the Haracc fleet and crush them. The issue, however, was that in the melee it was nigh impossible for the reserve ships to navigate around the edge and avoid being caught or entangled in the brawl, and one Haracc warlord did indeed catch sight of the attempted flank. With a blood-curdling cry and the sound of bronze drums behind them, they charged the surprised and unsuspecting flanking ships and sunk them all, destroying a sizable portion of the Imixteak fleet and attempted to rally the Haracc battle line. Unfortunately for the Haracc, the Imixteak battle line held strong and was able to push for a relative stalemate. However, the Imixteak fleet was in this for glory and loot, not to die for some people half way across the Mediterranean, and seeing victory only coming at a high price they disengage. One Haracc warlord attempts to catch them in the hopes of finding glory, but is quickly cut off by some of the Imixteak ships and is easily crushed. Seeing this, the Haracc fleet calls it a day and returns to sail off to Corfu.
Meanwhile, as the Haracc finally begin to sail to the Nowptaos, the Nowptaos were busy pushing out the local garrisons and blockading any fleeing Haracc in the Gulf of Corinth. The Nowptaos fleet is able to successfully blockade the Gulf but the size and logistical nature of the blockade causes some supply issues. Meanwhile, the Haqthor and Meqhawos armies occupy Corinth with ease, taking down the Haracc garrisons with light casualties and with the heavy support of the local tribes, seeing the Nowptaos as liberators from the Haracc oppressors.
However, the Nowptaos were expected Aryatsarun mercenaries and armaments, which were no where to be found. Where there where Aryatsarun mercenaries were on boats on the way to North Africa, specifically the Bagaroki Ors'ruic. The sheer size of the fleet combined with poor weather however shipwrecked or destroyed a sizable portion of the navy, and others were simply blown back to shore. By the time the navy and Gordieh arrived in the ports of North Africa, they had lost about a 1/3 of their forces. Nevertheless, they pushed on.
As the Haracc and Southern Imixteak fleets arrived and confronted the blockading Nowptaos fleet, a great storm hit the fleets. In what appears to be a sign of the Haracc every time they attempt a grand naval battle, the storm blows off many ships and wrecks others. The fleets are forced to retreat and re-supply and most importantly repair what ships remain, before they take back out to water to properly fight. This would be a rough fight, as the Haracc and Imixteak battle line struggles to form up due to miscommunication and bad preparations. The Nowptaos are unable to properly capitalize on the situation, and the two battle lines again crash to turn in a general melee. The Imixteak fleet, however, had no desire to follow what they saw as a buyer who couldn't provide what they promised. They sat on the sidelines, watching before deciding the leave the battle as they watched the Haracc right flank get crushed by the Nowptaos. The Haracc warlords watch as their numerical superiority is ruined and their fleet being destroyed by the Nowptaos, and some of the warlords left the battle disillusioned with the leading warlords of Danko and Marrok. Danko and a core group of following warlords are enraged by the cowardice shown, and attempt to cut off the retreating warlords and force them to return to battle. Before long, the Haracc are fighting amongst themselves and killing each other while the rest of their fleet is destroyed by the Nowptaos. However, the Nowptaos fleet had just weathered a terrible storm and had been running low on supplies for days, and many cried out for the leading Chieftain of the Trexonakh to call it a day and return to port. The Chieftain demanded they push their advantage, a chance to completely destroy the Haracc navy and the warlords, but many of the allied chieftains simply abandon their fleet as well to return to port. As the Haracc warlords either abandon the main force or lie dead at the bottom of the sea, they sail to return home without anything to say for it. The Nowptaos simply return home as well, having beaten back the Haracc and occupied Corinth.
Not all was finished for the Haracc, however. Gordieh and the Aryatsarun had finished resupplying and she began her true plan: to invade Sardinia and loot the Haracc for all they had. There were plenty of supplies for her army and the weather was fair as she sailed to the island, demanding the local Haracc submit to her rule and give them all their valuables. As expected, the Haracc refuse to submit to this foreign woman and her army and shore up their defenses. The nearest settlement was called Bactarr [Cagliari], a well defended and influential Haracc settlement. The Aryatsarun were prepared and undermined a section of the wall around the settlement, and march to establish control of the gap. As they approached the Haracc skirmishers along the wall kill some of the Aryatsarun, and as the two forces clashed in the gap neither side was able to make ground. As some time progressed and the Aryatsarun were forced to return to camp, it was clear more Aryatsarun than Haracc were killed that day. Gordieh demanded they continue on, and as the sun rose again they formed lines and pushed into the gap. This time the Aryatsarun are able to make headway into the settlement, and the fighting takes to the streets. However, both sides continue to take heavy casualties and eventually the Aryatsarun force is too small and too exhausted to finish off the brave Haracc defenders. Gordieh and the remnants of her force have no choice but to sail back to their homeland in defeat. They arrive relatively safely, and Gordieh lives to fight another day.
M: The Nowptaos have occupied the province of Corinth, and both sides have taken some casualties. The Aryatsarun took heavy casualties at every stage of their invasion plan and will lose accounting and standardized weights and balances as their society loses many of the more specialized classes.
