I am 50F and finally trying to break contact with a 21M who was my first huge age gap relationship. I thought I could transition into a friendship with him, but it kills me to think of him with other women. I’m extremely possessive and jealous when it comes to him and I know it’s not healthy and it’s time to move on if he doesn’t feel the same way. I blocked him on social media, but cannot get myself to block his phone number yet. 😞 I have helped him with things in his life and we actually have developed a friendship and I think he’s hurt that I can’t just enjoy him as a friend but it’s just too painful for me. And he didn’t fight at all to stay my friend when I told him I couldn’t have him in my life anymore which also hurt. And maybe that’s why I’m unable to find another relationship is because I need to erase him from my life.
But It started with an exciting bang where we were very attracted to each other on Facebook dating and in person. He actually made me stay over the first night we met and hooked up and then love bombed me, and breadcrumbed me for months afterwards, before I knew what it was because I was very new at dating. I had originally just wanted a young and fun FWB and now months later I find myself looking for an age-gap relationship that will end in everlasting love. But I don’t have that initial bang with any of the many young guys I have now met and just have no desire to see them again for a second date, especially when the sex is bad.
So all you older women in successful long-term relationships with younger men,,,, did they all start with a bang? Did any of you go on a few boring dates before you started catching feelings for this person? I have no opportunities around me to just form organic friendships with much younger men that may turn into a relationship. My only choice for relationships with younger men is online dating.
And do you older ladies find it takes you more time to get over an age gap relationship, then a non-age gap relationship?
