I'm a 19 year-old girl who's starting to explore my interest in older men (think 40 to 70). I am generally pretty shy in real life and don't really know how to go about flirting.
However, I was recently in a bookstore, and a guy struck up a conversation with me about a book I was looking at. He was very much my type--50 something, burly, bearded, and into books. I definitely thought we were flirting, but at one point, he said something like, "That's cute. You remind me of my daughter."
Now, I definitely have Daddy Issues, so to tell a man he reminded me of my dad would definitely be a compliment. I'm just not sure it works the other way though, or, if the fact that he said that means he definitely didn't view me as someone to flirt with.
For the record, we ended things by saying we hoped we'd run into each other at the store again.
