Hello everyone, I’m (22F) currently in a new relationship with the best guy (50M). We met on the internet and met up for dinner in the same week. We both decided we wanted to commit to each other early on and grow from there. It’s been a month since that first dinner
Considering I’m 22, I know a lot of people will have opinions about our relationship. So I planned on slowly telling my circle. My family on the other hand, I was never going to tell. They can be extremely judgmental and myopic.
Sadly, when we were out with his daughter and granddaughter at the fair yesterday, we ran into my sister! It was unavoidable. He introduced himself by his name and his daughter/granddaughter too. I was visibly uncomfortable while everything transpired. When we left the fair, I had a panic attack because I was so worried about what she might say or think or do.
So my questions are, should I have a conversation about it with her? She sent me a text saying “we need to debrief later”. Do I jump the gun and start the conversation? Should he interact with her at all? How do you handle unsupportive responses from people? Do you have to make a choice between your partner and the people that don’t support your relationship? Or can you juggle both? Any random tips that could help?
