Quick question to GGers here -- why are all the LW's women?

I know at some point there was quite an extensive list, all women. But from what I understand the LW's currently are: Zoe Quinn, Anita Sarkeesian, Brianna Wu, and "Literally Blue"/freebsdgirl
I'm just curious as to why they are all women. I'm not interested in responses such as "LWs don't matter, we don't care about LW's, etc.", so please stay on topic.
