Parchments, it seemed, wasn't much unlike Harvest Hall. Certainly not the foreboding affair of Storm's End or even Nightsong, standing watch over their domain and demanding submission. Instead, Gaven found its sight almost welcoming after the trip through the winterscape of the Stormlands. Still, he counted his blessings, namely that they weren't crossing the North in its infinitely worse conditions to find a bride for the younger Selmy. While Roger was often the type to be bull-headed on matters he had little control over, he had agreed well enough to at least meet with Helena Penrose.
When they arrived at the gates, Lord Gaven made to speak with the guards, having sent ahead to Lady Lacy that they would be arriving as soon as possible. "I am Lord Gaven Selmy," he said to the men outside, "This is my brother Roger Selmy. We've come on the summons of Lady Regent Lacey Penrose. Please inform her that we've arrived."

The two were made to wait a short while in the foyer, though Gaven at least gave no impression of concern. He simply found himself enjoying a warm mug of honeyed milk, preferring to keep his wits about him as long as possible for their initial meeting. After all, marriage negotiations were always a critical thing, regardless of whether the intended couple truly cared for each other. Though it certainly made things easier, or so his father had told him.
Roger, meanwhile, kept his usual masque of indifference as they waited. The young man had a way of keeping his thoughts off his face that Gaven found intriguing. Whether that would be to his benefit or detriment remained to be seen.
"My Lady, there's no need to apologize," Gaven said when she finally arrived, rising quickly and giving a bow of respect. He looked to Roger and found him doing the same. It was a mercy that he didn't have to remind him of his courtesies as he did with Ryon on occasion. "We were glad to get your letter, its good to see you again. May I introduce my brother, Roger Selmy?"
"A pleasure to meet you, Lady Penrose," Roger said as Gaven motioned to him.
