I recently ran across Proverbs 9:17.
It talks about two women, Wisdom and Folly, each calling out to the men. Wisdom goes first, and it’s the usual lines, but when it comes to Folly’s turn, she says to the men passing by:
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
Read that again: “Stolen waters are sweet. And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
Motherfucker, that’s a line and a half.
What woman doesn’t want her verboten water supped unto the source?
What man doesn’t want his bread eaten in secret? It’s way more than pleasant, I can tell ya that. I know a woman who could take that bread whole.
Do you?
But the next verse gets real:
18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell
Truer words never been spoken in this dark corner of the world, right?
