He sat in his car, scrolling with practiced ease, until her face appeared. Her smile was knowing, her profile concise: no strings, no questions. He swiped, and a second later, the match flashed on his screen.
Their conversation was brief, straight to the point. Her first message was a time and a place, his response a single word: “Perfect.”
The hotel lobby was quiet when they arrived, both careful to come separately. Their eyes met for the first time, a flicker of mutual recognition and unspoken understanding. Neither hesitated as they disappeared down the hall, her hand brushing his as she unlocked the door.
Inside, there were no awkward introductions, no unnecessary talk. They moved as if they’d done this before, because they had—just not with each other. When it was over, she smoothed her dress and smiled. He grinned back, knowing this likely wouldn’t be the last time they saw one another.
