What should ask for my hourly rate? (entry level)

Post Body

I'm currently a senior AE student graduating spring 2025. Through one of my professors I got onto one of his client's projects doing some wind tunnel testing and structural design for an aircraft component (under nda).

I've already done some work, but now comes the hard part: coming up with a reasonable hourly rate and number of hours expected for the project.

The guy running the project has also said that there are other projects he has that I may be interested in after this one.

So what is reasonable for a situation like this? Idk if it matters but I'm in CA where min wage is 16/hr.

When I started as Entry level in 2009, $60k a year seemed to be the starting salary. It's probably closer to 80k now (Texas at least). Not sure what a CA equivalent would be.

Interns in my area I think may make $20 to 25/hr.

$40/hr to 45/hr (83200 to 93,600) may be fair for true entry level. Don't expect alot as a entry level fresh out of school (or heck, still in school it seems)
