Allow me to preface this by saying I'm a layman. I have done college-level: algebra-based physics and college-level pre-calculus. I am not an engineer but I would like to be.

I want one software suite for FEA, Fluid Simulation, and Modeling. I want to, after writing a mission profile, be able to build the model in the software, test it, tweak the model, and repeat until satisfied. I also want to test for emergency situations and see what its performance envelope is.

I understand that Abaqus, COMSOL, and Ansys are the gold standards. However, I know they each have very different price points that are aimed at Commercial clients and I want software for a hobbyist.
