Bought points but balance not updating

I wanted to buy a flight using my Aeroplan points but was around 4,000 short so I bought them. Login to Aeroplan and it shows that the purchase was completed (points.com). However, the overall balance is still the same as prior to the purchase. Called Aeroplan and they said the call volume is too high so they can’t even connect me with an agent.
Frustrating to say the least as I just want to book my flight.
Anyone know how long it will take to update?
