This week my group played our first game of Aeon's End Legacy and we fell in love with it right away. Out of curiosity I've started looking into the other versions of the game, and wanted to explore where we could go after the legacy campaign should we still be as enamored with it as we are now.

What roles do the different 'standalone' versions of the game play? e.g. original vs new age vs other versions? The way the versions are compatible with each other mechanically is a bit unclear to me since I've not played any non-legacy game before.

How do the games connect, and what game would be a next logical step after Legacy? I understand that New Age also has a semi-legacy approach and follows Legacy narratively, but that it's also an 'expansion', so maybe it's not as suited to using standalone?

My questions aren't really concrete, I'm moreso just asking for insight in how everything connects and advice on where to go next with the series.
