I have a situation. I have a core group of friends who I have known and been close to for a very long time. However, recently I started dating the ex of one of my friends, well after the broke up, and with his permission, and my friends have been acting differently, treating my poorly and ignoring me. I’ve also noticed that they are increasingly becoming people I don’t enjoy spending time with, they’re crass, rude, and negative. I love my girlfriend and her friends. They don’t judge and treat me like a person. The opportunity to audition for a drama program that my girlfriend and her friends partake in happens tomorrow, and I can sing okay and would most likely get a lead immediately. However I think that my friends would make fun of me ruthlessly for joining drama, and it would likely be the end of our close friendships. I am a bit scared, drama is something new and very different from my usual activities or hobbies, and would put huge strain on my schedule. I also am self conscious about singing and the show is a musical. Can you advise me on wether or not to audition?
