I need to get out of work for a final interview… but here is the thing

I do not have any vacation days left due to me taking all my remaining vacation days the week following. The day of my interview also happens to be the day of my current employers annual big event. Which brings people from the whole company together.

It will be a big deal for me to miss the event. However, I tried rescheduling the interview and they said no. My boss also is the nosey type. So if I call in sick, he will want answers. How do I make this work?

Additional info: I can not make both. The interview is in another time zone. I will not be in the area to report to office at all.
