this happened not even 12h ago so still a bit under shock but here it is. Me (21m) and my gf (18f) have been dating for 7 months and yesterday right before bed she confessed to me that she wasnt 19 like i thought she was, but 18. The 1 year difference isn't much but her birthday was 2 months ago so this means i was dating a minor without knowing it for several months. Again 21-17 migh not be that bad of an age difference for some people but for me it would've been a pretty big "ick" have i known at the time because that's just how i see it.

For many of you this would be a huge red flag and a very valid reason to end the relationship but i love this girl so much and actually think she's my soul mate so when she told me my reaction really surprised her, she was fully expecting me to leave her on the spot. I told her it doesn't really change anything because she is still the same person to me and age is after all just a number, she's very mature for her young adult age and we have everything in common so i'm crazy about her. What bothers me most is the lie that kept going for months and that's where my problem is: if she can sustan such a lie for this long what else did she or is she lying about?

She assured me she's never done anything like this before and the reason she lied in the first place was because she didn't expect us to actually end up getting into a serious relationship. For some context we met on Tinder so it was supposed to be pretty much just a hookup. She told me that for the past 5 months she's been trying to come clean but everytime she got scared and backed out. She's scared shitless that i'll leave her and she thinks i took it too well, to which i kind of agree and i might be blinded by love so did i let this slide too well?
