Ok so I’m gonna try and keep this as short as possible. My brother who is 21 was once a very outgoing, loquacious, life of party kind of person. He always expressed himself. You always knew what he was thinking and feeling. He always positive and just always was happy. However, when he was 16 he was falsely accused of something he didn’t do and he’s been different. When it first happened he was medicated heavily because of the intense stress he was going through and eventually was diagnosed with depression. He was the complete opposite person he used to be. He hardly talked to anyone, was always sad and always seemed down.
It’s been 5 years now and he’s somewhat better. He’s no longer on mediation for depression. I can tell he’s trying to be better. He’s going out and trying to talk to people more. It’s almost like the old brother i knew. However, he’s very distant and sometimes cold when it comes to expressing his emotions. He never talks about them and when I do he completely ignores me. What can I do to make him more expressive so he doesn’t bottle his emotions?
