Employer background check advice
Post Body

Hi, I just accepted a new job offer but I do have a slight discrepancy in my background. I wanted to double check to hear other points of view on this.

So I've worked for a few different high profile companies that definitely require background checks and maybe in the past required a certain degree of education. However I've always passed background checks and drug tests and don't have a criminal record.

The discrepancy is in my education. I actually don't have an official degree. I did a 2 year AAS program many years ago but still have 1 GE class to complete before officially receiving the AAS degree. I got a job offer my last semester of school and have been working ever since. I just never got around to completing the class but I've always had my school and AAS degree on my resume. When companies require education background checks I've always put down the school but I always say that I never received the degree due to this one missing class. Side note: the degree also has nothing to do with my occupation.

I get nervous every time I have to do a background check because of this issue. Yet this major companies haven't ever brought it up or retracted offers. Should I feel more confident when doing this next background check considering it's never been a problem before? Another side note, I am registered to take this last class in the spring so there's that.
