First of all, I'm sorry for my English. It's only my second language.

Here is a little backstory to the whole situation.

I've been working for this company for 5 years. I was unemployed for two and was really happy when i finally found my new job. I work in sales. So I make sure the company has customers. I also work in Support, i can customize the software and have several other skills nobody has.My first boss was niceish. She always put her employees first, when some customer would complain about us, but also told me in front of the owner, that I don't deserve more money, when I asked for a rase 3 years ago. I'm working like crazy and that was what I got.

After this wonderful conversation i started looking for a way out. In the meantime, out owner mowed my boss to "rule" out IT and the company got a new chef. He is/was open for innovative ideas; I got a little rase and he/ the company is paying for my university. I'm studying economics.

Fastforward to this year. I'm a specialist in all things in our company. I know the software we sale better than anybody else. There are features, which were built in, because I wanted them. And for some I also provided (with lots of help by google) the Sorce code. Suddenly our owner, who is a stupid greedy piece of human rubbish, wanted to know how the sales team works. He started asking questions like who is dispensable in the company. Dispensable! We made a plus of 50% in the last 2 years 19.8% in the corona year alone!!That was the time where I stopped turning down recruiters who offered me better jobs. All those years i was working my ass of for a shitty payment. My wife is nurse, and she makes three times more money than me. I was doing my job because I honestly believed in the company and the product.Last week i was offered a great new job, where I would make lots of money, have less stress and more benefits.

Here is my Question. Last week I also found out, that my boss wats to buy out our company. And now I want to leave. I know that he will not pay me more. At least not now. But I still feal shitty for letting him down.

Am I the asshole here?
