I am a chef at a local restaurant in Boston. I have an employee in his early 50s. Not the token of best health. He doesn’t have the best diet and drinks heavy.
He’s worked for me for about 8 months. My right hand guy. We get along well and always have fun. Monday he didn’t show up for his shift. He has stopped answering and responding to calls and texts.
In restaurants, we have a fair share of no calls no shows and people quitting without warning. But I don’t get the feeling this is the case. Myself and our GM went to his house today (he lives a few blocks from me), and no one answered. He has 3 roommates.
Should I continue to get in touch with him? Maybe a wellness check? We are genuinely concerned for him at this point.
