What would you do?
Post Body

Need some impartial advice . All my friends will just give me a pandering answer. Basically I start a new job on Monday, after 6 years in my current job. It's in a car garage, & what I know about cars & car parts you could write on the head of a pin.....but I have done something vaguely similar before in picking orders for customers. This is the message I've sent a few folk:

Weird question. Do you think I'm doiog the right thing with that job? Having a moment of self doubt. I'm leaving a job I can do with my eyes closed & probably wouldnt ever get sacked at but that I hate save for being able to listen to music & work with a friend, for a job thats same money but more hours, where I have a 6 month probation period & have to be there for 2 years before I'm protected by employment law, during a time when the job's market is sparse & the unemployed is many.....but there's a chance to progress to management, which is what I want to do

What would you do if you were me? I've no kids (don't ever plan to have them tbh but that's irrelavant), no mortgage save for board (don't ask, my life is a mess 🤣) and a few bills & I'm only 30 (believe it or not). Would you go for the oppurtunity knowing you could further yourself or stick with the safe option of the job you have? Going to hand my notice in today. Already accepted the offer from new job but I could always back out.....but it's also someone I know, works there & that has helped me in the past that has recommended me for the job.
