I started to work on insurance a month ago. I had some experience but nothing to the level I am now since I used to do customer service and now I have to do sales. The office is fairly new, and my boss fired almost everyone except me. We get along just fine, but I understand the line of respect there is between her and me.
Anyways, I'm still getting used to sell because I didn't receive proper training (I'm basically winging it) and I was talking with a friend over the phone while I sold him insurance. The thing is, this friend and I have hooked up in the past and we we just slightly making flirty comments here and there while I was going forward with the procedure. My boss wasn't there but as soon as she got there I stopped and just made small talk. I got stuck during the process and as she walked to my office, she heard my friend saying something about his dick (he had no idea) and I just let it go. She did make a comment that she was gonna write down the information I had since I was "too busy having phone sex". After the policy was sold, she went outside to talk over the phone and I could notice she was very upset. She wanted to talk to me, however, we got interrupted before anything could be said. She did say "I don't care what you do outside the office, but this was very unprofessional" though.
Now, I understand the reason why she is upset, but I'm getting upset myself now because she keeps bringing my past mistakes (that I have corrected now after I was told about them) and yelling at me for every little thing. Questioning me and such. I'm trying to accept it and be quiet, but it's hard to bite my tongue down my when the reason why I made those mistakes its because I have no training. Now, my real question is how to defend the fact that she wants me to sell to my friends, and if we talk the way we talk its because they are my friends!
I know it feels like a rant, but I legitimately would like some advice on how to deal with this situation. I'm doing my best to keep quiet and learn what she wants me to learn, but she even got upset because I kept saying "yes" (I don't need you to agrre), "I understand" (I don't need you to understand, I need you to do it), "It won't happen again" (Then why did it happen the first time?).
Thank you all
