I got some money as a bday gift. It's kind of spontaneous but I want to use it to buy a good camera, on the other hand I could wait and use it for something better long term. What should I do?
Post Body

I kind of feel an urge to get into photography. The camera is a decent one, cheapest dslr I could find which is all the money I have to spare. People are saying it'll be useless and I'll get bored of it, my argument is that it might be good for me to get a hobby that will take me out of the house, as I'm usually not in a great headspace.

Then I started thinking that maybe I could split the money for things that may make me better long term. Mainly buying a one year gym/pool membership, also a trip I've been meaning to plan with a few friends and to finally get that hair color I've always wanted. As the trip would be low budget I think I could fit all these 3 things into the bday money.

But then again - camera. A nice camera to take pictures with and do photography stuff and even film/ make videos (filming is actually part of my uni course)

So maybe I'm being stupid, but I really want to know what unbiased people think I should do.
