Close friend suddenly stopped all contact...
Post Body

Hi Everyone,

This isn't the typical "friend stopped talking to me" story, in this scenario I really don't understand what happened or why.

A bit of context. Last night my friend (R) and I were going to a concert, something we had both been looking forward to for a long time. I had bought the tickets this summer and he reimbursed me for his. When we get there, it turns out that the tickets had been some sort of scam, they had been bought and then resold and we couldn't get in. The box office said that I had sold my tickets, but I did not and that they now belonged to someone else. I don't know what happened.

The show was sold out so we left the venue, and we spotted some scalpers outside. I engaged with them because we really wanted to go, and they seemed legit- someone had extras that they just sold to them (being familiar with concerts and events I know that this is a somewhat frequent thing), R my friend was still skeptical but I convinced him to go ahead. He paid for them since he had the cash then, and I was going to reimburse him today. The only thing is that these tickets were in two different sections, and we tried to find a way to sit together but ultimately couldn't. I was texting him through the whole event, he responded once or twice then stopped responding at all.

When the event was over, it was pretty packed so I decided to just exit the venue and wait for him outside, and I texted him I was going so. I end up waiting and waiting for him, he's nowhere to be found, but there were so many people I'm not sure if I just missed him.

I tried calling and texting but no response. At this point I knew he was ignoring my calls because it would ring twice and then go to voicemail. I think he blocked my texts as well because instead of being iMessages per usual (as we both have iPhones), they were texts. I waited as long as I could but I had to get home by train so I couldn't miss the last one, I texted him again I was going home and for him to please call me.

Today I've tried to make contact with him again, it still appears I am blocked. I've gone onto facebook and it looks like he blocked me there as well, on facebook messenger I get the "sorry this person is not receiving messages right now" response as well.

I don't know what to do or why he's mad at me, the ticket issue was not anyone's fault. I'm still concerned if he is ok- I texted a mutual friend who lives in the same building as R to check on him but I haven't gotten a response yet.

What do I do? Did I do something wrong? I just don't understand. Should I have done something else to make sure he was ok. I think he is but I'm not sure, and I'm not sure if it's my fault.
