*headphone port is stuck on Digital Out mode.
Last night, I connected my Macbook to an amp using a speaker cable and adaptor with the intention of playing some drum tracks through the amp. For some reason, it wouldn't work, even though it worked fine in the past. Later that night, I listened to music with my headphones on my laptop as I usually do with no issue. However, the next day, I hooked my headphones in my laptop and no sound would play except for a hissing static noise. So I unhooked my headphones and there was still no sound.
I looked on my audio settings and saw "Digital Out" was where "Internal Speakers" should be. I found out that apparently this happens when you insert a cable into the headphone port and it somehow presses a small lever which activates the "Digital Out" mode. The only solutions I've been able to find were to stick a toothpick in the audio port until it disables the lever, or to repeatedly insert the headphone jack into the port. I've tried both solutions repeatedly with no success. I've also restarted my laptop. Is there any other solution I can try? I really do not want to make a trip to the Apple store.
