It's been suggested to me several times I could use a service animal to help me with my PTSD. Not a therapy animal, but a service dog. They would get me to a safe place when I get disoriented during a panic attack, get help from others when I'm in distress, carry my medication, warn me when I start showing signs of anxiety so I can take steps to prevent an attack.
I've been off-put by the idea for the last couple years because it sounds like a lot of work and additional stress, and the doctors recommending I look into it didn't offer a lot of information. With the place I'm at right at this moment, I'm thinking it wouldn't be terrible idea to look into. But there's no info!!!!
All I can find is info on how to get the dog you already have certified. I know I'm not up to spending 2 years training a dog to help me, when I need help now. Should I pursue this? Where do I start?
