Let me start of by saying I have never met up with anybody online, I'm not not planning to meet up with anybody either. But it's difficult to meet people my age, with such a busy life and no time for social interaction. I have met lots of interesting people online whom I connect with and have similar interests but I'm always worried that they are not who they say they are even when knowing them for a while.
Here in Texas there is always a new kidnapping, not only women but grown men are disappearing. Most of then are people who met up someone online.
I don't know if I'm being delusional but I always carry a small pocket knife and have a GPS tracker on me at all times. Still, I feel unsafe from listening to news stories of women being taken in broad daylight. It's very common here in Texas, not some conspiracy.
Not only that but these things are all useless if I'm cornered by a group of men or simply thrown into a car.
But I feel a meet much more compatible friends online. If I were ever to meet someone from a dating app or social media, how do I make sure they are safe to be around and how do I protect my self from being taken by force.
