Should I talk to neighbor or go directly to property manager?
Post Body

I (34F) live alone in an apartment. My back patio space shares a wall with my neighbors whose unit shares a back wall with my unit. They’re a young couple with a puppy. They let the puppy take number twos in the back patio area and don’t clean it up and now that it’s hot out, there are lots of flies and the odor is horrendous. It’s to the point that I now can’t enjoy spending time in my back patio, which I used to do often. The man who lives there is short-tempered and I’ve heard him yell at the dog in a very mean and abusive tone, and then lock her outside for long periods of time. (Mind you, these patios are only about 12’ x 8’) It makes me wary of walking over and asking him to clean up the poop. I’m worried he will get angry or mean towards me. Should I approach face to face? leave a note? contact the property manager and let her handle it (knowing it could very well be obvious that I was the complainer)?
