So I have a college planning dilemma and I would like to vent about it and ask for some advice. So I am a 26 year old dude, full time Software Engineer planning on going back to college for a Degree in Comp Sci and Mathematics in order to pursue a Masters and hopefully a PHD. My plan was to try and punch through all the entry level classes and Gen ED stuff through Sophia Learning, StraighterLine, and etc. And ultimately transfer this to an online college program as I am working full time. My first decision was transferring over to SNHU (Southern New Hampshire Uni) But, I was concerned about the quality of their education because I want to make sure Im getting what I paid for. I have been hearing opinions about it being a degree mill and are very lenient with grading. Hearing that made me worry about how the learning is structured and the depth of the courses. I know its not a 4 year traditional school but, after hearing peoples opinions I have been getting second thoughts about this school and opting for another one. The advisors at SNHU were very determined and they gave me a good experience and I was sold but, I feel like I jumped too soon without actually doing much research and I recognize this now. Even my eagerness with college too. I took on this plan to finish faster but, I dont know if faster means better and maybe I need to be more patient. I thought of the idea in which I do SNHU for just my associates and then transfer to another college for my bachelors because my GPA wasnt all that great and its been almost 7 years since I was in college last. But again, I am uncertain and a bit lost on what would be the best course of action. I thought it would be better to ask here than on r/SNHU because I wanted a more non-biased response. Reddit is big, I dont even know if this is the best place to ask but, I do need some advice. I want to pursue my field beyond where I am at now and I believe going through academia is right for me. What do you all think?
