I(27M) have received a job offer that is way better then my current job. The only issue is the schedule. At the new job I would only work 14 days a month(12 hours shifts)(will get overtime). Which works out like this: Work 3 days, have 4 days off, work 4 days, have 3 days off, work 6 days, 1 day off, then to round it off 7 days off. Or something like that, not in that order. I would receive my full year schedule on the start date so I could plan things in advance, like doctor appointments and stuff like that. The other issue is that one week I will be working daylight hours, and the next week, I will be working night hours. Plus if I am scheduled for a holiday, like Christmas, I have to show up for it.
At my current job I work nights Monday night to Saturday morning(8 hours shifts). The schedule never changes. Holidays off.
The main reason I want to leave my current job is because, I have no social life. I want to be able to find events with like minded people and get friends, maybe even a girlfriend. All events I see are in the afternoon/evening, when I am sleeping to get ready for work. I know that my current job wouldn't even care if I left, so they wouldn't make any offers for me to stay.
Another reason I am hesitant to take this job is because I would have to say good bye to my only 2 social things that I have, because they are weekly. I run a online dnd game, and I have a therapy group that I get a lot out of.
And the last reason, is that I studied to become a data analysts. And I would like to go back to school to learn more for it and create connections. With this schedule I wouldn't be able to plan stuff that would happen once a week.
