should i sell my car
Post Body

i (F19) own a chevy impala lt 2008 it has 227000 miles on it and i pay $100 to insurance monthly. my boyfriend (M22) has a 2007 chrysler sebring that has 96000 miles on it although his car needs a battery, insurance, and plates basically it hasn’t been legal or been driven since he bought it it’s been sitting for 2 years. My car has had problems every month for the last 6 months first a oil leak, then the shifting cable broke, and i have to put it in first gear or it stalls when i come to a full stop, now there is a grinding ticking kinda noise. i’m not sure if we should invest into getting his car legal and road ready or if i should just keep fixing my car even though it’s past the recommended miles and at this point not safe to drive. we can’t afford two insurances and we would have to sell my car to afford to get his legal (to a junk yard or for parts or something hopefully at least $700 i just got 5 new tires including the spare so i’d want to get some money back) our insurance would also go up $150. i guess i’m asking what would you do if you were in my situation. i’m pregnant and due in about a month and need to get this figured out asap. thank you in advance for any knowledge or advice
