should i take the promotion if i am already planning to leave the company?
Post Body

So, today I was sat down and told that if I wanted to I could move ā€œupā€ in the company and take on a role that would increase my base salary by 50 cents but overall my annual would increase by about 15-30k through commission. I have been wanting to leave this company for a long time as despite the ā€œpromotionsā€ they offer it is very clear that after this one I would be hitting a dead end. I have been actively job searching, applying and interview with the hopes to move to a different company in a different city by February. My mom says that even if I take the promotion and only go through training and quit 2 weeks into it that it will still look good on my resume but I donā€™t know how true that is. I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or had any general advice for me. Or tell me if my mom is right or not. Thank you!

Tldr: I was offered a promotion from a company I do not plan to stay with and I donā€™t know if I should take it.
