So for context, my family and I don’t get along a lot of the time, and twice has resulted in them verbally abusing me while blocking me from moving or leaving, resulting in me shoving them, and they never pressed charges. I do feel bad and am in the process of trying to apologize to one of them as well.

For a while I’ve been staying with my grandparents on my mom’s side and he has issues with control and ocd, but nothing official since he thinks he’s “the closest thing to god if he existed.” He never stated it but from what he says and how he acts, it’s clear. Recently though he’s been harassing me about my car, that is actually owned by my dad. Specifically, he wanted a key to my car to move it whenever he wants. I told him I’m usually up a couple hours after they are and I don’t mind if they have to wake me up even, I’d rather they do that and get me to move my car for them than give them a set of keys since my dad explicitly stated he doesn’t want them to have keys, on top of it being my only form of reliable transportation.

Well because of this lack of control in his life he’s been letting it get him worked up for so long to the point that today when I went to talk to them about the text he sent me after I just woke up, and he’s so upset he’s threatening to evict me over a car key and would rather I disobey my dad than compromise with them, and even grabbed my neck and reared his fist back like he was going to hit me and given his size and strength, I was in fear.

He didn’t hit me, but walked off after I started to call the cops for a domestic disturbance. I left out the part where he grabbed me at first but they found out anyways and hauled him to the detention center, and idk if he was bonded out or what but they were going to set a court date for it too. So now I’m gone, moved out and living elsewhere and I’m waiting for the subpoena to show up for the court date and I’m debating if I want to testify against him or not.

I know I’ve done similar things, which would not make it fair, but for different reasons, and he’s got mental issues that he won’t have addressed because he thinks he’s fine with driving away family and friends.
