I've been at my current job for a little over a year at first it was stressful but not too bad but these past few months it has really gone downhill fast. In the last month alone 3 people were fired under unfair circumstances and 4 people quit as a result of the unfair firing. I have started to have anxiety attacks. I have been looking for a new job for the past 8 months Meanwhile I have gotten a handful of interviews I have not been offered a job anywhere else. I have no idea as to the reason for this I'm in my mid-thirties I am educated and I have a good work history. Today someone suggested that I should just go ahead and quit and apply for unemployment but I don't know if that would be a good idea.
It seems the only places that are interested in hiring me are places that pay far less than what I am currently making and I don't believe I can afford a pay cut because I am already struggling at my current salary. I took a huge pay cut with a job I had temporarily last summer and I ended up having to borrow several $100 from a friend that was not a good situation.
So I guess my question is what should I do? quit and apply for unemployment? Accept what I can get with less pay? Or just continue to tough it out until I actually find something?
And just clarify yes I have done everything I've searched every website even the less popular ones I have spoken to numerous career counselors I have talked to Temp agencies I have talked to recruitment agents I have spoken to friends. The job I have right now I really sort of fell into accidentally and I was sort of hired under false pretences so…… What now?
