A friend of someone i’m no long on good terms reached out to me. Should i respond

I am no longer on speaking terms with this person bc she tried to set me up. An old friend of hers reached out to me and asked if “im living in ny or california” I did some snooping and found that they aren’t friends anymore and don’t follow each of so social media so maybe it would be safe to respond to him but im still scared that if i do respond it’ll be a grave mistake and that person still wants to set me up. should i respond to his text or are things a bit fishy?
