Resort and destination rankings
Post Body

So far my husband and I have visited 9 different AI resorts in 4 different countries! I'll rank and describe them below:

#1 Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica - This resort is by far our favorite! We've visited 5 times so far and have trip #6 planned for next year! The beach is phenomenal, food and drinks are great, and we love the layout of the resort. We also love the various inclusions Couples has that makes them a great bang for your buck!

#2 Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, Jamaica - This resort is absolutely gorgeous! It is located on a huge, spread out, exotic piece of property. It truly is a honeymooner's dream! Romantic, lush, and private. Staying true to the Couples Resorts brand, the food is fantastic. The beach is small, but the sand is soft and the ocean is clear and calm. We spent most of our time at the mineral pool and hot spring at this location

#3 Sandals Grande Antigua - This resort is located on Dickenson Bay, one of the best beaches in Antigua! It is long with soft white sand and crystal clear water. It is a public beach so there are vendors, but they weren't an issue to us. We loved the large, spread out layout of the resort. We also had no trouble finding good seats on the beach so that was awesome! Food was typical for Sandals Resorts... good, but rarely great. We did not stay in a Butler level room but we did not experience the same poor service we've had at other Sandals resorts that clearly prioritize Butler level guests. This has been our favorite Sandals resort so far!

#4 Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios, Jamaica - The smallest of the 4 Couples Resorts, we enjoyed the chic vintage feel of CTI. Food was delicious, the view from our room was amazing, and we loved how small and initmate the resort felt. The entertainment staff there were on the top of their game and made sure there was always something fun going on! CTI is a great option for a shorter stay, especially now that there are direct flights into Ocho Rios!

#5 Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma, Bahamas (RIP) - This resort has since closed permanently... but I'll include it anyway in case anyone is looking to stay there once it reopens as a Beaches resort. The beach was gorgeous... long with bright white sand and the most vibrant tourquoise water I've ever seen! The water was a bit too rough to enjoy swimming in, but the beach had a constant breeze so we loved just sitting in the shade and enjoying the view. The resort is large and spread out, which we tend to prefer. Food was good, not great. We had some issues with staff members clearly prioritizing Butler level guests which was very frustrating. Our room was in need of repairs. Overall, we enjoyed this resort a lot but didn't feel it lived up to the premium price. We LOVED exploring Exuma, though, and would return to that island in a heartbeat!!

#6 Sandals Montego Bay in Montego Bay, Jamaica - This was our first AI experience! We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. We thought there was great entertainment going on frequently and the food was good. We stayed in the cheapest room category, though, and the room was not "Sandals" level... at all. It felt more like a mid-level hotel we'd find here in the US. We loved the beach and the different inclusions provided at Sandals.

#7 Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, Jamaica - We didn't spend enough time at this resort to get the full experience, but we probably wouldn't return, either. Our room was absolutely gorgeous... like something out of a magazine... and the pool was fantastic! However, the food was mostly mediocre and the beach was very, very small.

#8 Privilege Aluxes in Isla Mujeres, Mexico - This resort has a LOYAL following... however, we didn't catch that fever. haha The beach was absolutely beautiful, located right around the corner from the famous Playa Norte. However, the water was choppy and the beach was full of day trippers coming in from Cancun once the afternoon rolled around. The service at the beach club was excellent and we enjoyed the food there. The rest of the food was good and the resort is located near Hidalgo Street which is known for it's amazing restaurants. We enjoyed the room service options at this resort more than the food at the restaurants. It is extremely reasonably priced and in a prime location.

#9 Secrets The Vine in Cancun, Mexico - This resort ranks last mostly because of the beach and the limited food options. Our room was beautiful and we loved the view. I also loved the desserts available at the Cafe. However, the rest of the food options left much to be desired. Dinners seemed cheap and low-quality. Options for lunch were very limited because we did not stay in a "club" level room. We enjoyed the food from the pool/beach menu the most, but it took a very long time to receive our order. The fitness center at this resort was awesome with incredible views of the ocean! Overall, we would not return and I probably wouldn't recommend it to most people.
