Best way to go about finding a house to rent? Have only lived in apartments as an adult.
Post Body

Currently 26 and married. My husband and I have been trying to find a house to rent within our budget that also takes our pets. We have only rented apartments. I have been looking through all of the rental apps and trying to contact landlords on there, but I never hear back from them. The housing market is insane right now so sometimes a house I'm looking at already has 50 contacts. What's the best way to go about finding a house to rent? Should we contact rental companies directly? Should we put together a folder with all of our info such as rental history and pay stubs to prove we can afford the rent?

Comments

I found our current place (lower level of a duplex) by going on all the rental sites multiple times a day for nearly a month. The first week or so it’s a lot to go through but then I’d just check for new places in our price range throughout the day. Eventually I found a perfect place and was the first to apply and we got in. Best of luck to you! I know how rough it is out there.
