Hi all,
My therapist suggested I make an appointment with a psychiatrist to start some medicine options. I've never gone to a psychiatrist before, and I'm trying to figure out if my insurance even covers meds.
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and I found where to look up policies. It has a few options: search by keyword (mental, behavioral, psych, medicine, management didn't work), search by coverage policy number, search by procedure code (looked up procedure codes for medicine management by a psych and that brought up nothing), or choose a title. I think choosing a title would be my best bet, but they have too many to sift through and I don't know what keywords I'm looking for.
Does anybody else with BCBS have experience navigating this for psychiatry/medicine management? Also, (since I can't find the policy to tell me), do I need to make a referral or do I just call the doctor's office?
Thanks for any help~
