What do I do about my doctor?
Post Body

I have started looking for a new doctor for my PHP. I have found one I used to use but he's an 1 1/2 hour drive away. My current PHP has refused my ADHD medication for over 2 years sighting that she is worried it will raise my blood pressure. I did try to tell her with my job I need my ADHD meds to help with concentration. Without them I get stressed (higher blood pressure). The stress causes me to eat more (gain weight (higher blood pressure) and has caused me to start smoking again (higher blood pressure). She has refused to check for a hormone inbalence for 2 years (we'll come back to this in a minute). My thought has been okay doctor knows best. Between the prescriptions she has given me and my own hard work, we have been able to lower my blood pressure into normal ranges(even with me smoking) and lower my A1C to where it is further away from the diabetic range. I've had to have 10 hours of sleep every night and usually an hour nap during the day for a long time. She has talked about eventually getting me a sleep apnea test. 3 weeks ago I had strept throat. I couldn't get in to see her because she was completely booked. I went to the walk in clinic with the same medical group. I got antibiotics for my strept throat. 2 weeks ago (3 days after antibiotics were gone)I started having severe fatigue from that Friday afternoon till Monday afternoon I may have been awake for 2 hours. I try to get in to see her she's booked. I pretty much sleep the rest of the day. Next day I call to see if she has any cancelations or any openings for the next few days. There were no openings. I get told to go to the walk in clinic or go to the ER. at this point I'm afraid to drive because I'm basically passing out all the time so I have my mom take me to the walk in clinic 30 min drive away. She takes me and they tell me they can't see me because they are afraid it is an adverse reaction to my meds. They tell my to see my doctor or go to the ER. I call my doctors office to make sure there's not been an opening. They tell me to go to the ER that is an hour and half away because they'd be able to test and possibly treat me better. I'm not really wanting to go to the ER so I decided to wait till the next day. Next day I call to make sure there's no cancelations. I end up having my mom take me to the ER. After 16 hours in the ER I get sent home with a diagnosis of either leukemia or blood cancer. I get no recommendations and am told to talk to my doctor on Monday that she will have the rest of the test results. From Thursday to Monday I spend that time pretty much sleeping and crying. So why the ER doctor came to this diagnosis is because my white blood cells were almost double the normal amount and them and my red blood cells are dying at a fast rate this is what the ER doctor told me. Come Monday I reach out to my doctor she says the ER doctor misdiagnosed me that it was just a blood virus (key words for we don't know). Me:okay what are we doing about it. Doctor: I'm ordering you a sleep apnea test.

Friday my mom had reached out to a family friend who examines blood and has done it for 40 years. Mind you he is not a doctor he just has training. He has set an appointment for Tuesday to look at my blood.

Tuesday comes around and we are looking at my blood. 1st thing he points out is my red and white blood cells dying that they are being attacked by yeast. He said the is probably causing severe fatigue. We ask him where the yeast would've came from. Him: From the good stomach bacteria being killed allowing yeast to survive. Me: how does that happen? Him: most of the time from an antibiotic killing the stomach bacteria. (I had just used an antibiotic a few days before this started) Next thing we notice is several oval shapped blood cells which means...a hormonal inbalence. Something I've been asking to be tested for for 2 years. Because it can severely affect how the body holds fat and speeds up weight gain and slows weight lose. The next thing I don't recall what it looked like but it signifies brain disruption specifically ADHD, dementia or oldstimers(spelling)..the ADHD I'd been asking my medication for. We found a couple other small things that were easy fixes like doubling up my B vitamins and taking enzymes. He told me with the yeast that there was a couple of things he can suggest that should get rid of them in about a month. Or if I can get a doctor to test for it and give a prescription that can get rid of it in less than 7 days.

I tell my doctor what we saw with the yeast and I ask her if she can prescribe me something to get rid of it. She comes back at me pissed that I went and got my blood looked at. And tells me she won't prescribe anything for something she didn't test. The next day after I calm down from her hatefulness. I ask her to run a test to check for the yeast. Her nurse ask me if I can pass along the test results from him looking at my blood. (I thought you wanted to run your own test). As I'm responding to the email the nurse calls me. I explain that we just looked at it and talked about what it was. I explained to the nurse what we saw with the yeast and what he told me was the probable cause. She was like oh yeah yeah like she'd seen that before at some point in her career. We hang up. 30 minutes later I get an email from my doctor saying that that can only happen with cancer or HIV and that she will not be testing for it. That she will see me at my next appointment in 3 weeks and we might discuss it then. That she has ordered the sleep apnea test cause that's probably all it is. 1. Why are you refusing a simple test. 2. Then what did the ER doctor see that he thought was cancer if it wasn't the yeast you just Said could only be caused by cancer or HIV. 3. Why would it just be sleep apnea if before this started it was only 11 hours of sleep a day.

I should have never of had to go to the ER for this. I don't blame my doctor for that. The medical group she works for makes them have 6 appointments every hour so there are rarely openings. It's even hard to get an appointment a month down the road.

I'm torn because I do need this sleep apnea test and the process is already started with my insurance and the test to get the sleep apnea test has already been taken.

I can't just continue to sleep 16 hours a day. Until the sleep apnea test results come back and the vitamins do their job. I don't want to change my doctor till after test results come back.

I'm lucky I have an understanding boss or I would've been fired by now.
