Post Body

Just sat here and listened to my mom lie to my sister for 20 minutes. “Oh I’m only drinking one or two glasses at most every other night.” “I can’t drink before bed, I just can’t sleep.” “Oh, I only drink wine, never anything harder.” “I know I can’t mix my medications with alcohol, I’m very careful.”

It’s bullshit. Every word. She’s drinking starting at two on a good day, noon on a typical one. It’s a bottle of wine every night. It’s hard seltzer, vodka drinks, probably more. She lies to her doctors about the amount. She can’t drive by 5 pm, passed out by 9.

I’m at a loss. I know it’s not going to change. It just hurts.
