Am I the only one who hates the TENS

First I'm just starting out on this journey and trying to figure out what works for me. I bought a TENS unit and hate the sensation. It feels like a bunch of tinny needles stabbing me. All patterns on low levels (1-3). I will admit I've had physical therapist use TENS on my knees and ankles and hated then as well. Is this just a me thing or have others had similar issues?
