Something I don’t see discussed here really is the woes of changing contraceptives.
Newman goldfarb recommends starting and stopping a certain type of birth control for induction. I personally had been on a progestin IUD before deciding to start NG. Had the IUD removed, then started the pill, then started dom, started pumping, then stopped the pill. It worked. I am lactating.
It is basically common knowledge that changing birth control can lead to mood swings, fluctuations in weight, depression, fatigue - any number of symptoms due to hormonal fluctuation.
It is important to note that my mental health wasn’t great to begin with, and that I have been on some contraceptive for 11 years. I’ve been lactating (and off BC) for about 3 months and sadly haven’t felt like I’ve been able to relish in any joy. My depression and anxiety the worst they’ve ever been. I have no energy for anything.
I am going to hold out and continue to hope that my body finds some normal and/or I find ways to cope, but it’s quite difficult.
P.S. I take vitamins and have had regular bloodwork - I have no reason to think there’s something wrong aside from hormonal fluctuations.
