Foe those wondering, I plan to share my Limerick Joy review by the middle of next month, as I want just a little more time with it to give a really indepth review.
I am currently sitting here using the Freemie on one side and the Limerick on the other. Doing this so I can sync the Freemie to the settings that feel comfortable for me on the Limerick, so I can use the Freemie while away from home.
And can definitively confirm they are totally different pumping technology! Even though I have both on similar settings, the Limerick compression is much more gentle than the pulling of the Freemie pump. I can pump a full 30 mins with the Limerick several times a day & though they leave a bit of a mark (that goes quickly away) there is no soreness or sensitivity (beyond the normal feeling you get over time with breastfeeding). If I do the same with my Freemie (or any other pump like it) my nipples are extremely sore and sensitive.
Unfortunately, my husband had to stop nursing last week with no idea when he'll be able to again. 😞 He was getting a good flow going too. Definitely understand what others are saying about missing nursing - am definitely grieving it & that unique closeness it brought that you can't quite get from just cuddling. There's something that brings it to another closeness level than cuddling - even cuddling nakedness lol
With pumping, am still getting nothing. Though I had a glimmer of hope today while I was setting up the Freemie - saw some traces. So hopefully getting that setting sync'd with the Limerick will start to show signs too.
With it being a new year in a couple days, I decided to refocus my lactation efforts as I started slacking after my husband stopped nursing. Am going to work on hitting my hydration intake mark, adding in a pause every 5 mins to my pumping to hand express & massage for about 2 mins (when am home), and pumping every 2 hours (between 6am and 10pm) with one night session (at 2am).
With going on my 8th month mark next month since starting, am hoping this will kick start things more. And hopefully in that time my husband will be able to get back to at least evening nursing sessions.
