With the amount of washing parts we have to do, I thought I would share something that is making my lactation journey a little easier. Please know that this is not necessary to buy for your lactation journey, especially if you're just starting out.
With making the decision to keep lactating for as long as I can, after almost 5 months of hand washing parts, I decided to invest in a bottle washer. Was one of the best investments I made - besides purchasing a wearable pump & the Annabella pump.
There are only two models on the market, and the Momcozy KleanPal Pro Baby Bottle Washer is the better of the two - from reviews. Yes, it's a little pricey but SO worth it! It cleans, steams, and dries all in one.
I was constantly worried that my parts would collect dust (live in desert area) while laying out to dry. Also the constant washing was starting to dry my hands out more & aggravating the arthritis in my hands. In the beginning I was wiping them with baby wipes, and washing them every second session as I wasn't making milk. Now that I am, I need to with wash them after every use. I can have all parts cleaned, dried and ready to use in a safe place for my next session within an hour.
I do plan to buy spare parts for my wearable pump so that I can get a full day's pumping done and just have to put the parts into the washer at the end of the day.
Another reason why I wanted to get this, is because, even though the pump parts I have can be put in a regular dishwasher, I wanted to keep them separately from our food dishes to keep them sanitized. I know that's not as big worry when breastfeeding an adult, but I feel safer doing that. Plus, we live with my brother-in-law, and don't want him really knowing what we're doing as long as possible - he wouldn't understand & think us absolutely crazy lol
