Vegetable wash and fridge hack
Post Body

Ok, hear me out. Are you sick of washing your pump parts all day every day? I just thought of a new hack that’s been working for me for a few weeks now:

  • first I learned from r/exclusivelypumping. Instead of washing the parts after every single time, just put them in the fridge for next time. Thoroughly Wash once every 12-24 hrs. This has been working great for me especially during the wee-hours-of-the-night pump.

  • second thing I sorta thought of on my own: vegetable wash! I bought a bottle from Trader Joe’s, take apart the pump parts (at this point I have 2 pumps and 4 separate cups/bottles to wash every day) put them in a pot of hot water with a good amount of veggie wash. It’s natural, it doesn’t have the annoying gross smell of regular dish soap, and if it’s good enough to remove wax from fruits it’s good enough to get milk fat from the parts. I simply let the parts soak for 20-30 min then I hand scrub and rinse.

So far I’ve been doing this for 1 week and it’s been great. No residue, no smell, super clean parts.

Any other little hacks you’ve learned over your experiences? Would love to hear about them.
