No Dom Inducing - What I've Done & Currently Doing
Post Body

I know there is a lot of people out there wondering if it's possible to induce without dom and how to go about it. This time inducing my aim was to do whatever I can to encourage lactation without dom.

I thought that I would share what I have changed, other than my husband getting on board with suckling, to encourage my breasts to produce milk which so far has been working for me.

Please know that this is what is currently working for me. Not everyone is the same, and what works for me might not work for others. I would also like to say that it's best to start with the lowest dose of anything (whether supplements, dom or food/drinks the help lactation), and slowly increase to see how your body reacts to find your own sweet spot.

I have been taking goats rue, moringa, shatavari, and sunflower lecithin from about one month into inducing (just hit 4 months). I take the recommended dose of each that is mentioned on the bottle. However, I take half the capsules in the morning and half in the evening. I have found, for me personally, that helps to keep a steady dose within my body around the clock. I also take a daily multivitamin and mineral.

Last week I started having organic whole grain oatmeal every morning. I add blueberries, apples, pure coconut milk, a little honey, and almond butter into it for taste. Yesterday I picked up some of LegendairyMilk's brewers yeast, and added that into my oatmeal this morning. I didn't taste it at all! The last time I tried brewers yeast it was aweful! This one was great. I did have the full recommended daily amount, but think I will half that so I can have it in other things too.

I have also started being more aware of what am eating, making sure that at every meal & snack has something included to help boost lactation ... I found bars ("Boobie Bars" - available at Walmart and Target) yesterday to try. Not sure huge fan of them and probably won't get them again. But they did definitely helped as my husband swears he felt a spray during this mornings breast time. I also found a recipe for no bake lactation cookies, which I'll be making today.

I changed my diet up too, though that was out of necessity for my health and has helped my overall health. I cut all processed foods that weren't made of real food, all seed oils, and sugars. I get my sweet tastes through adding honey, or eating sweet fruit, or through the occasional lactation drink mix.

Besides food, I also aim to drink between 80-100 ounces of liquid a day through filtered plain water, adding a lactation drink mix to water, coconut water, and pure coconut milk.

I did not start on the protocol, just started pumping 15-20 mins every 2 hours for the first 2 months around the clock. Then stopped doing night time sessions. When my husband started suckling a week ago, I switched my pumping schedule to 30 mins (double pumping) every 4 hours, and if my breasts started to ache between sessions I double pump or hand express or just massage for 15 mins.

All these things combined have gotten me to this point at 4 months in. I am now consistently seeing either small beads or larger beads (that sometimes drip down the nipple) from both breasts. In the last week we have seen more milk ducts open up, more than my previous attempts to induce. The color of those beads started off green (happened when the ducts first give something), and are now either light yellow, clear or a mixture of clear and white. My breasts grew a little bit in size, and are now looking & feeling more fuller and rounder, especially when they need to be expressed. My areolas did become darker and more round. My nipples haven't grown, but are always sensitive and get extremely hard at random times.

As a side note... my husband mentioned that when my nipples get really hard, he finds it hard if not impossible to get a good latch to suckle properly.

I hope this helps someone who is thinking of going the route I did. It can be done. Just take patience and perseverance. Even when you feel you're not getting anywhere because we don't see or feel much changes at first, your body is working overtime to fill the supply you're demanding.
