Lactation Update - 4th Month Inducing (no dom)

Hit my 4th month mark of inducing this past weekend! 🥰 Had to recently decrease sessions in a day due to life a few times over the months. Been a rollercoaster due for sure, but just going with the flow.

When I first started I was fully doing it just for myself, but last month my husband decided to try suckling and fell asleep doing so. Next day said he actually enjoyed it more than he thought he would. Now, he's slowly coming around to the idea of wanting to suckle when we go to bed as we fall asleep. He was originally of the thought that suckling would make him feel like a baby. So am over the moon that he doesn't feel that way anymore and is slowly embracing this. I want him to want this type of intimacy as much as I do without feeling am pushing him into it. So when I started I went into it with the mindset I was doing this for only myself, so I wouldn't be disappointed if he didn't ever want to. Every time he's fallen asleep suckling he's seen the difference of my breasts in the morning, which I believe is giving him incentive to continue.

As far as pumping goes ... it took a while to find the right flange size. After I finally figured that out, my breasts started to not like the pumps I was using. Started with a Philips Avent manual, then Spectra S1, then Freemie Liberty (which ended up being the least uncomfortable one and my go to), and then a Philips Avent electric. All have their great points and features but my breasts just weren't liking the suction as it felt too fast even on the lowest settings. Plus each breast started to get temperamental and not liking to be pumped at the same setting as the other, so ended up pumping them individually at different settings, which made my sessions even longer.

Just before they started to have the temper tantrum I was starting to get some white/clear beads on a regular basis. When this tantrum started all progress went away - though they still felt heavy they started to feel and look deflated.

I went in search of a wearable that would pump each breast individually. Found a cheaper version of the Momcozy M5 that offers a couple features that it didn't have, called the Eufy S1 Pro. Seems to be a newer wearable on the market.

It arrived four days ago, been using it since, and so far am enjoying it. For the last two days I have seen consistent little dark beads from one or both breasts. 😊 The suction on this pump isn't as harsh as the other pumps felt, and I was using the lowest setting on all those pumps. Feels more gentle and natural, even with a medium suction range. What sold me on this pump was few things; ability to set each breast to it's preferred suctioning, the gentler overall suction of the motor, the integrated heating pad on the flanges, and the app that has a preset session that mimics suckling. At about 10 mins into my session, with the heat on, I have the feeling that my husband is suckling at my breast rather than the pump 🥰 and I feel little pin pricks on my nips tips - my indication of a letdown.

Another thing I switched up, was putting lubrication on my entire nip and it's base rather than the flange, and using Earth Mama's nipple balm. This ended up being more comfortable with this new pump than when I tried doing this with the others.

I am using the heat feature on this pump for 15 mins out of my 20 min sessions, and am finding this has been helping with a feeling of letdown and then seeing results when my session is over.

My sessions are 4 hours apart right now, due to moving soon, and my husband is going to work on suckling at bedtime. Still continuing with my supplements. Am keeping my water intake at a good level, though that declined for a week due to health. I have also added a night power session, and try to get in a morning one too when I can. Between that, the new pump, and my husband's night time suckling, we are seeing results - even with my husband still learning how to suckle properly.

Btw, I'll share a full review of this pump in a different post so it can be added to the mega thread.

Background ... last induced a few years ago, was able to get an ounce before having to stop. Last pregnant 20 years ago, breastfed roughly 2 weeks only. Am 50 yrs old. No dom. Only doing supplements, staying well hydrated, and keeping my diet healthy. Supplements am taking: goats rue, moringa, shatavari, sunflower lecithin, and multivitamin. Pump Schedule: every 4 hours and a bedtime suckling session when able, no night time sessions unless husband wants one.
