I recently heard Dr Thomas E Brown in a YouTube video refer to ADHD as erectile dysfunction of the mind. These days, with so many of us on antidepressants that have Ed as a side effect, I think we can all relate. It explains how if you get really interested in something you can be hyper focused and very engaged but then suddenly be unable to maintain your concentration. It explains how even if you are interested in something you might simply not be able to get engaged. It might just be the best metaphor to help you explain to other people how ADHD affects us.
