My search story as an adoptee
Post Body

Hi everyone. I'm new to this sub. I'm a 49F and here's the story of my search. I always knew I was adopted. I was the 4th child, the last 3 of us (girls) are all adopted. I have a brother who was natural to my adopted parents but is mentally disabled. I was never close with my mother. During the time of my adoption, they had been planning to adopt a boy from Vietnam. But the conflict at the time, they couldn't. So they found out about me through my mother's brother and shortly after, my aunt and uncle fell my from Florida to Mass to meet my new parents. Fast forward to my 20's. I started searching. I was born in FL but adopted in MA which is an open state So I went through thr process and got my un-redacted adoptions record and birth certificate. Wow I found out my birth mothers name and age, which I never knew. Also included in the records was a divorce decree between my BM and her husband at the time of my birth stating I was not his, but their 3 year old son, was. So I found out I had a half brother.for 20 years I searched and searched anyway I could. Her name was very common and it was nearly impossible. Well Is started looking into marriage records in Florida. I found several with her name on it. So I started searching with those last names. I finally did an ancestry DNA test and everyone I had the closest matches to, all 2nd -3rd cousins, I reached out to with what info I had. Then I found an obituary. I names started to match up under this longer ksit of children she had. So I went to fb and found my youngest half sister. I have on my maternal side, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. One brother passed away but I've spoken with all if them! It was so amazing. Crazy circumstances on their end, 5 different baby daddies for the 6 of us. I was #5 and my BM told them I passed away at birth. My one sister was so happy I was alive! It was amazing. I've also been able to, through ancestry, connect to my birth father's side. I have another sister whi was born 5 years TO THE DAY, after me! (Crazy!) And another brother! It's really nice to finally know where I come from. We aren't close but I can message any of them at any time and we chat! Best of luck to anyone in their search!
