I really feel for the guy, he hates fame, and it’s clearly impacting his mental well-being. The last episode I watched was a couple weeks back when he explained what happened and since then I’ve checked out.
It’s not the first time he’s mentioned these issues, his anxiety is getting worse, he’s feeling burnt out and overworked. He doesn’t want to get any more famous so I don’t even mention him to random coworkers or friends anymore when cooking comes up.
He’s like a boyfriend/girlfriend that wants to leave you but isn’t strong enough to do it himself. I get that too, I’m sure the financial pressure of keeping that 200k views a day gravy train going is too great and he doesn’t want to get a “real job”
I know nothing, we know nothing. But if I could give him a piece of advice based off of years of watching his content, I’d say he should change his channel to be like babish where he has a fake (albeit mostly parallel) persona and name or be like food wishes and not even mention his real name ever (literally didn’t know for years). He’s talked about feeling exposed and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that he’s selling himself and his views (often through tangents especially through podcasts) as a product and therefore opens himself to praise and criticism directly as opposed to donning a persona, people wouldnt praise or criticize him…they’d praise the persona. If he made this switch he’d probably take a bit of a hit but not big.
